With 14 episodes of the ongoing Chinese drama Feud currently out, we got more Zeng Shun Xi promo photos dropping via iQIYI’s Weibo account earlier today.
Along with the 12 new Zeng Shun Xi promo photos, which follow on from others released earlier, iQIYI commented about the drama:
Wrap the obsession into a soft and tender one, and at a certain turn of time, let the faded promise bloom again into a pair of flowers.
Zeng Shun Xi, of course, plays Bai Jiusi in Feud alongside Bai Lu’s Li Qing Yue and, yep, he is so darned pretty in this one. As pretty as Bai Lu, if the truth be told.
Feud itself crossed the 9,500 heat index on June 8th (with two lovely posters released to celebrate), so is doing well in China.
Internationally, however, it is rated only average on My Drama List, with a current rating of 8.1 out of 10, and low-ish on IMDB where it is only garnering a 7.3 out of 10.
Ratings that are surprising as, while I am still only eight episodes in, so there is time for me to change my mind and, while Feud is not one of my faves of the year as it isn’t offering anything much different, it is also not one of my least enjoyed.
My only disliked part of the entire drama so far is that, for some ungodly reason, the production committee/director/whoever decided to not have Bai Lu dub her own voice, so we are stuck with a childish annoying one I could frankly do without.
For Chrissake, she’s a 30-year-old woman. So why? Just why? And why do so many Chinese dramas feature these ‘baby women”? It’s 2026, for heaven’s sake.
And yes, that, and that the drama’s opening is bland AF — both song and visuals.
My guess about the international ratings, though, is that the same disgruntled group of trolls who often downrate dramas are probably doing the same with this.
What tells me that?
Well, Feud is still at #1 on iQIYI’s Top 10 dramas this week, and if most people were not enjoying it, it wouldn’t still be sitting there as, obviously, plenty of people are still watching it.
