Fate Chooses You soundtrack officially released on April 30th
Because I am currently obsessed with the ongoing Chinese fantasy Xianxia drama Fate Chooses You starring Allen Ren (aka Ren Jia Lun) and Wang He Run, I have also had the entire OST on repeat since it was released by Tencent Music on April 30th.
Because, let’s face it, a good drama soundtrack is vital for a Chinese drama to be exceptional (and this one is!) as, without an epic opening theme song and emotion stirring fight music, no drama would have the same emotional impact many of them do.
If you are as obsessed with the drama, and the Fate Chooses You OST as I am (I was sold the minute C-drama theme god Liu Yu Ning began singing the opening theme ‘Purpose of Life‘ ( 生当何为 ), because, hell, there is no drama that man cannot make better), here then is a boatload of information about the songs, the composer and lyricist, the instruments and, of course, where you can listen to it.

Again and again. Like me. (Along with the vocal songs, track #7 “Fate’s Bond“, by the way, is one of my most played).
Composer, lyricist, and instruments used on the Fate Chooses You soundtrack
The original soundtrack for Fate Chooses You features music composed and produced by renowned composer Hu Xiao Ou (胡小鸥), with lyrics by Zhou Jie Ying (周洁颖).
Hu Xiao Ou also composed the soundtracks for The Company, Unveil: Jadewind, Dream of Golden Years, The Prisoner of Beauty, Blood River, Love of the Divine Tree and Guardians of the Dafeng, to name just a few of the many many C-dramas he has scored.
Meanwhile, lyricist Zhou Jie Ying has written lyrics for songs featured on most of the same soundtracks, as well as for The Blood of Youth, Blossom and New Life Begins OSTs.
The album blends traditional Chinese instrumentation with modern orchestral and electronic elements, using instruments such as the dizi (flute), xiao (vertical flute), guzheng (zither), erhu (fiddle), and suona (double-reed horn) to create an ethereal Xianxia atmosphere while enhancing the drama’s themes of fate, sacrifice, and redemption .
The full soundtrack album was released on April 30th, 2026 under Tencent Music Entertainment Group, and is available to stream on Spotify and YouTube. (Listen to both below)
