Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue’s Unveil: Jadewind officially a huge hit in China
As someone who is loving every episode of the new historical mystery drama Unveil: Jadewind this news just makes me laugh. Delightedly.
Because, as some non-Chinese viewers are still insisting “Unveil: Jadewind” is a massive flop, not only is it performing well internationally on Netflix, but YOUKU has just announced the C-drama has exceeded the magic 10,000 mark on their heat index.
For those who aren’t aware, when a C-drama hits 10,000 on YOUKU, that means so many Chinese viewers are watching and commenting on it, the series is now an enormous hit.
To celebrate Unveil: Jadewind‘s success, YOUKU released a visual featuring eight of the drama’s main characters and supporting/guest cast, including leads Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue.
The Chinese streaming service also commented:
“Tang Dynasty Mystery Cases: The Green Mist and the Wind’s Cry” (Chinese title – aka Unveil: Jadewind) has surpassed 10,000 popularity on Youku!
The palace mysteries are unraveling layer by layer, with thrilling twists and turns! More excitement to come!
YOUKU also tagged the actors featured in the poster (above) on their social media account — Bai Lu, Wang Xing Yue, Annabel Yao, Zhao Qing, Zhang Wei Na, Dai Lu Wa and Li Xin Ze.
International response to Unveil: Jadewind
As I have pointed out numerous times on a slew of articles, several of the non-Chinese drama review sites are populated by trolls who deliberately downrate new dramas just for kicks.
It’s interesting then that Unveil: Jadewind is currently earning a solid 8.0 out of 10 on My Drama List, which is an excellent score for a C-drama on that site, while IMDB users are also rating it an 8.0 out of 10.
That usually means, if it’s holding that kind of score on those sites, it will usually be earning a rating in the high 8.0s or low 9.0s on other sites.
Comments for Unveil: Jadewind are hugely positive as well so far, ranging from:
One thing that has lowkey stood out to me, I love FL’s sense of humor, her sarcastic/witty humor is pretty funny I think. When she told Wu Ren if they kill me, they definitely won’t let you live either and in today’s episode, when she says to the pipa player, we met on the seventeenth, you acting like a stranger deeply hurts me. I actually really like this sarcastic and witty sense of humor she has. Might not be for everyone but I enjoy it.

In general I enjoy historical detective dramas, and this one is a definitely a very nice one, with intriguing storylines that mostly hold together logically. I absolutely love Bai Lu as the “crazy girl” and her boss is hilarious. I wasn’t sold on the male lead at first but I’m gradually warming to him as well.
Unveil: Jadewind is currently streaming on both YOUKU and Netflix, although Netflix is slightly ahead in new episodes released as, unlike YOUKU, they don’t hold the latest episode to only be accessible for an extra payment.
If you love a good historical mystery C-drama, I cannot recommend this one enough as, even as someone who isn’t a particular fan of Bai Lu (I’ve always thought she’s a bit bland) I have to admit she is doing a superb job in this one.
Throw in Wang Xing Yue’s equally stellar performance, and those of a slew of supporting actors, plus the gorgeous cinematography and attention-grabbing, well-written plot, and Unveil: Jadewind is one of my favorite dramas of 2026 so far.
Hopefully, it will become one of yours.
