Chinese actress Esther Wang (aka Wang Jia Jia) turned 42-years-old today, with iQIYI releasing a visual of the Chinese actress starring in the upcoming murder mystery Inseparable to celebrate.
And yes, as often happens for me with Chinese actors, I am amazed Esther is in her 40s as, every time I see her on screen, I always think she has that timeless beauty that makes her appear younger than her years.
The message from iQIYI that arrived with the Inseparable visual said:
Flowers bloom from the mud, happiness is found amidst fireworks. Happy birthday to Lin Meiyue (aka Esther Wang). May you have peace and good fortune.
Esther Wang’s 20-year-career shows no signs of slowing down
If you have been watching Chinese dramas as long as I have you will know Wang has been a mainstay of the Chinese drama industry since she appeared in a supporting role in the 2006 drama My Own Swordsman.
Twenty years later, her career is still going gangbusters with the actress seeming to always be in demand.
Since her 2006 start, she has appeared in around 25 major dramas, including supporting roles in The Long Season and Drifting Away, and main roles in dramas like last year’s recent Uncle, Supersensory Maze, and the even more recent The Silent Rift.
Esther Wang was also one of the ensemble cast of the superb Shenzhen-focused multiple-stories drama The Miracles, which came out at the end of last year and ran through January of this.
If you are into dramas comprising several short stories, I recommend The Miracles more than many I have watched as, along with Wang, its cast is filled with more A-list actors than I have ever seen in one drama.
We should also see the now-42-year-old actress in main roles in the upcoming Inseparable, The Vanishing Beauty and Feng Pei Dao Di later this year, although the latter may not drop until 2026.
As for Inseparable, that drama finished filming back in August last year and, it being a contemporary Chinese drama comprising just 12 episodes, I have a gut feeling it will be dropping quite soon.
When it does, it will be streaming on iQIYI.
