Supersensory Maze has premiered – gorgeous character posters introduce us to main characters
The new Chinese crime thriller Supersensory Maze (aka Chao Gan Mi Gong or 超感迷宫) premiered on Tencent Video and WeTV today, just a week after the C-drama’s premiere was announced.
But we did get 12 cool-looking character posters dropping this morning that make this one look incredibly suspenseful.
Some of the most beautifully designed C-drama posters I have seen in a while, I might add.
Those 12 Supersensory Maze posters are for the three main leads – Duan Yi Hong, Shawn Dou and Esther Wang – as well as for supporting cast members that include Lu Xing Chen, An Yue Xi and Li Sheng.
The posters feature each character against a unique background ie: in a crowd of raincoated people, surrounded by bird’s wings, amongst a collage of medical syringes and vials, or in a bookshop.
Then, somewhere in the background, we can see a dark, hooded figure whose face is hidden from view, but who is obviously watching each of the characters.
As for the Supersensory Maze plot, this one has a very twisty story that, I am guessing comes with many surprises (and yes, I am only one episode in so far, so I cannot be sure).
This is how that plot looks:
Criminal investigator Xu Jing Zhi (played by Duan Yi Hong) struggles with lingering doubts from a past acquaintance’s case, leading him to voluntarily step away from the force for further training.
Ten years later, believing he has finally put the matter behind him, he returns to the front lines and joins the First Criminal Investigation Team, now led by his ex-wife, He Ya (Esther Wang). However, the new case proves to be a complex web of interconnected, bizarre, and difficult-to-trace events.
Xu Jing Zhi eventually discovers that the mastermind behind it all, Zhuang Ming Cheng (played by Shawn Dou), is actually the “deceased” son of his old acquaintance—a man he once called “brother,” Lu Ran.
Xu Jing Zhi decides to play along, using the trust of his superiors and colleagues to infiltrate the criminal organization while getting closer to Zhuang Ming Cheng, hoping to prevent him from sinking deeper into darkness.
As the two brothers with diverging paths confront each other through the case, they must ultimately make their own choices.
The first three episodes of the 20-episode Supersensory Maze are now streaming on WeTV (and Tencent Video in China), with Episode 4 also available for Express viewers.
