A new poster has been released for Upcoming Tencent-produced drama Her (aka Ta De Sheng Cun Zhi Dao (她的生存之道 or Her Way of Survival), and it seems to show the C-drama’s stars Eric Wang and Leah Dou as a couple.
A couple that, let’s just say, I am fully on board with if that’s the premise of the drama, as he is one phenomenally good actor, while her performance looks down-to-earth, gritty and amazingly authentic in this one (watch the trailer). What a duo, eh?
The cooking-themed drama stars Leah Dou (aka Dou Jing Tong) in her first C-drama role alongside Eric Wang (aka Wang Chuan Jun) (Come On Brothers), and with a supporting cast that includes Yan Bing Yan (The Examination for Everyone), Song Yan Fei (Exploration Method of Love), Niu Chao (Into the Heat) and Wu Jia Kai (Kill My Sins).
It is directed by Li Meng Qiao in her first main directing role, is written by Li Xiao (The Tale of Rose), and comprises 24 episodes, so I am happy to say it’s on the lighter side of C-dramas.

From that message then, and the fact that it was given its distribution license back in late April, it sounds like the Chinese drama will be premiering soon. (Update: Her is premiering on July 21st — check out its 3 new posters)
The Her plot
For gourmet lovers, the Chinese food-themed drama’s plot sounds like it may be a big hit:
Boxer Liu Yan (played by Dou Jing Tong) has had a remarkable talent for food since childhood, influenced by her chef mother (played by Yan Bing Yan).
Through a twist of fate, she leaves the boxing ring and bids farewell to her childhood sweetheart Wang Yang (played by Niu Chao), embarking on a journey to find her mother.
In a foreign land, she meets a group of unique individuals: the disheartened lawyer Lu Tian Chi (played by Wang Chuan Jun), the beautiful yet proud “chameleon girl” Tang Shuang Shuang (played by Song Yan Fei), and the independent, precocious academic prodigy Li Zan (played by Wu Jia Kai). Together, they set her on a path of survival and transformation—from a boxer to a star-rated chef.
Despite the hardships along the way, Liu Yan faces every challenge with an optimistic spirit, crafting heartwarming dishes that heal and comfort everyone around her.
A new trailer (sorry, it’s only available in Mandarin Chinese dubbing at the moment) also makes Her look like it’s right up my alley.
As, if nothing else, this looks like it could be one pretty epic ride, right?
