Upcoming iQIYI mystery drama The Perfect Suspect released a ‘character trio poster’, and a slew of character visuals and stills (see below) from the Chinese drama earlier today.
And, whether you like a mystery drama or not, if you enjoyed crime-themed dramas Into the Heat, Mysterious Lotus Casebook, The Secret Path, The Justice or Genuine Heroes, chances are you might enjoy this one as they feature some of The Perfect Suspect‘s main cast members.
Personally, I’m psyched for another Ou Hao-led crime drama, as he has appeared in several of my faves (Tell No One, The Eve, The Fight and The Penalty Zone, to name a couple).
Justifiable Defense postponed — again
Rumor also has it that the Chinese crime thriller is going to take the place of the previously announced Justifiable Defense starring Gao Ye, Zhang Luyi, and Bai Jingting.
That drama has now been postponed from its original June release schedule.
That’s a second postponement after being initially slated for a May premiere, then June, but, unfortunately, fans desperate for it to drop will now have to wait longer.
But, don’t worry, as, according to Chinese media, the delay doesn’t seem to be due to anything nefarious, just likely due to a scheduling conflict with CCTV, as the drama is also slated for a satellite TV broadcast.
Meanwhile, it looks like we will be getting The Perfect Suspect a little early. Yay, eh?!
Along with The Perfect Suspect character visuals we got the message:

The Perfect Suspect cast and staff
The Chinese thriller began filming in April, 2023 and was approved for release in September of the same year. So, yep, we have been waiting for this one for quite a while now.
The iQIYI exclusive drama is adapted from the novel “Wan Mei De Jiu Shu” (完美嫌疑人) written by Chen Yan Yi (陈研一), and is co-directed by Xie Zhongdao (The Limbo) and Wang Fangyun (Criminal Scene).
The entire main and supporting cast was also announced today.
They are leads Ou Hao (Tell No One), Wang He Run (Mysterious Lotus Casebook), Cheng Tai Shen (The Secret Path), and Wang Ting (Battle of Shangganling).
Zhang Feng Yi (Who Rules the World) is listed as part of the main cast in western news media, but as a special guest by iQIYI. I am guessing the Chinese probably know more about this than western news, so we’ll go with that.
Li Yu Tong (The Last Immortal) is also listed as main cast, with Zhao Zhi Wei (Justice in the Dark) as a guest star, and supporting cast members Ku Bin (The Limbo) and Lin Le uan (My Super Hero).

Reservations for The Perfect Suspect are now up in China on iQIYI, with Chinese news media reporting the C-drama is likely to drop on June 25th.
Various The Perfect Suspect stills were also dropped earlier today, and they make the mystery thriller, which follows cases of several missing children, suitably gritty.
