There’s a new Song Wei Long and Zhao Jin Mai-led drama on its way (hopefully soon), which is why Tencent Video has just released character posters for both actors.
The drama is titled Shine on Me (aka 骄阳似我) and tells the story of Nie Xi Guang (played by Zhao Jin Mai) who graduates from university and starts her career.
Not being successful in her love life when she was a student, as she spent too much time on a pointless crush on top student Zhuang Xu (Lai Wei Ming), she soon meets former surgeon and now solar energy executive Lin Yu Sen (Song Wei Long).
But will the pair click, or will Xi Guang yet again waste her time on someone who doesn’t love her back?

The posters feature the two lead actors off skiing in a snowy landscape. And yeah, it’s pretty obvious these two will soon be a thing.
Shine on Me‘s success will depend on Song Wei Long bringing the chemistry
Now, as far as the actors go, honestly, I can take Song Wei Long or leave him.
He was decent in The Seven Relics of Ill Omen, although I didn’t particularly enjoy the latter half of the drama as it draggy, drag, dragged. He also did a fine job as Jiang Xu in Youthful Glory.
In some roles, however, he has been somewhat lacking. (I’m looking at you Beautiful Reborn Flower. Although that was such a horribly-written drama, he didn’t stand a chance)
Where he did shine though was in the bromance drama A League of Nobleman, where he played noodle seller Zhang Ping opposite the equally brilliant Jing Bo Ran as affluent minister Lan Jue, and where I thought both men had more chemistry in every scene together than 80% of the heterosexual couples in C-Dramaland.

If he can bring that level of emotion and atmosphere to Shine on Me opposite Zhao Jin Mai, the romance drama could be a 2026 standout. As yep, that does seem likely when it will air.
The direction for Shine on Me should also be superb, as its being helmed by Chen Zhou Fei who directed both Dashing Youth and this year’s mystery wuxia Whispers of Fate.
Gu Man wrote the script and, with her You Are My Glory being one of the top-rated Chinese rom-coms in the last few years, it bodes well for her writing skills on Shine on Me as well.
Throw in an excellent supporting cast that includes Fan Shi Ran, Lai Wei Ming, and Gu Zi Cheng, and guest stars Tong Lei and Xiu Qing, and I would say Shine on Me is a C-drama for romance drama lovers to at least keep an eye on.
Enjoy the Shine on Me character posters, and keep your eyes peeled for more promo pieces to drop.
