The Naran and Xiao Shun Yao-led Chinese historical drama Vow of the Phoenix (now titled Phoenix of Smoke) has just dropped a new poster featuring the two leads, with Naran in Xiao Shun Yao’s embrace as a lovely illustration of today’s Valentine’s Day.
YOUKU’s Weibo account also commented:
Day after day, night after night, smoke and shadows intertwine; year after year, phoenix hearts remain steadfast. Meeting was destiny, a fortunate companionship in the martial world
The C-drama was one of several upcoming romance dramas YOUKU dropped posters for today as, yep, it’s Valentine’s Day. The day we celebrate couples everywhere.
Even if they are just pretend couples on a TV series.
This one, however, is one of my most-anticipated C-dramas of 2026 as not only am I a big fan of Xiao Shun Yao (who, by the way, will be appearing in the soon-to-release Fate Chooses You starring Allen Ren), but I am fully of the belief that the 37-year-old Chinese actor should have been awarded far more main lead roles than he has been — his Phoenix of Smoke lead role being only his seventh of the last six years.
No word yet on when Phoenix of Smoke will premiere either although, as the drama only wrapped its filming on September 7th, 2025, (and dropped character visuals the day after), it may be a while yet.
I will keep you in the loop as more info about the C-drama drops.
