Chinese romance drama When I Meet the Moon has officially ended filming, with cast photos dropped earlier today along with another confirmation of its main cast.
It began filming on August 2nd, and ended today, November 12th.
That’s a more than 3-month schedule, but I would say that’s not surprising as the Chinese drama is currently billed as running for 40 episodes. So, yep, it’s another long one, but hopefully not a draggy one.

The drama will be an iQIYI exclusive when it eventually airs, which is likely to be some time in 2026 barring any unforeseen mishaps.
The C-drama is adapted from the Jinjiang Literature City novel Zhe Yue Liang (Folding Moon), which is written by Zhu Yi.
The When I Meet the Moon cast photos, including male and female lead Lin Yi (main lead for Angels Fall Sometimes) and Lu Yu Xiao (star of Love in the Clouds), came with the usual type of message from producer and distributor iQIYI, commenting:
#When I Meet The Moon Wraps Filming# #Even Wrapping Up Feels Like Withdrawal#
We whisper our story softly to the moon and, from now on, whenever the moonlight spills, it will echo the days we shared. Stay tuned on iQIYI, and let’s look forward together to the series Zhe Yue Liang (When I Meet the Moon).

The romance drama is directed by Elson Chang (Men in Love) and, interestingly, takes place in the same universe as the smash hits The First Frost and Hidden Love, so this one could be a similarly big hit.
Especially with the popular main leads, and standout supporting cast.

The plot also sounds unusual and, as female lead Yun Li is played by Lu Yu Xiao, who did a phenomenal job playing the autistic Shao Yao in Blossoms in Adversity, I’m guessing her portrayal of a girl struggling with immense social anxiety will be equally superb.

Here’s the plot of When I Meet The Moon, by the way:
The story follows Fu Shize (played by Lin Yi) and Yun Li (played by Lu Yu Xiao) as they reunite in Nanwu. Yun Li, a shy girl who suffers from severe social anxiety around strangers, wants to prove to her father that she can live independently.
She applies for a graduate program in Nanwu and, on the eve of the new semester, accepts an invitation from a local VR experience center to participate in an event as a video blogger. There, she unexpectedly reunites with Fu Shize, the genius boy she secretly admired in high school and who once called her “white moonlight.”
Yun Li’s secret crush turns into open affection. She overcomes her social anxiety and, with help from her friends, actively and creatively pursues Fu Shize. Her warm, sunny personality gradually melts his heart, and she finally wins over her dream guy.
Though their love is sweet, differences in how they handle problems and understand each other start to surface. Misunderstandings eventually escalate into conflict, leading to their breakup. Yun Li goes abroad, and Fu Shize’s long-buried emotional scars are brought to light.
