All Rise premiere date coming up fast
Chinese legal-themed drama All Rise has just announced its premiere date — November 29th on Tencent Video and WeTV — along with some bizarre character visuals.
Bizarre in that, while the main story of All Rise takes place at a law firm, a characteristically conservative environment, the characters are dressed up in either evening clothes or strange costumes and, to me at least, a couple of the women look like high-end hostesses.
The eight All Rise character visuals – titled “On The Field” versions, whatever that means – feature main leads Hu Xian Xu, Zhou Yi Ran, He Lan Dou, Jia Nai Na, Li Le, Huang Ting Ting, and supporting actors Wang Qiang and Liu Hai Kuan.
Yep, this one has six leads, so we can also expect multiple story lines. Obviously.
Tencent commented:
The elite team is ready on the field—everyone shining in their own way!
The individual character posters for the “On the Field” version have been released!A brand-new workplace journey for fresh recruits at a top-tier Red Circle law firm is about to begin. Are you ready to chase that “Heart-stirring Offer” together?
Well, kind of. Although, honestly, the character visuals have put me off a bit, as they make the characters seem pretentious and strange.

What is the All Rise plot?
The 24-episode drama (Yay, it’s a shorter one!) is directed by Deng Ke (You Are Desire), and written by Zhang Wei (A Journey to Love).
Baidu Baike, which does a good job explaining its typical young lawyers plot and who each intern is, describes the C-drama’s plot like this:
Top-tier “Red Circle” firm Jun’an Law Offices launches its first-ever “Know You Program,” a fast track for selecting outstanding interns for full-time positions. Those who make the cut receive a generous bonus and a formal employment offer. After a rigorous selection process, seven exceptional candidates rise to the top and arrive at the Beijing headquarters, beginning a three-month workplace “battle royale.”
Jiang Chen, an overseas Ivy League returnee and straight-A student; Ren Jiatong, cool on the outside, warm on the inside, and unmatched in practical skills; the friendly and sweet Guo Xiaoyu; the bold and straightforward Yan Fei, heir to a business family; the socially adept student-union president Li Ke; the coding whiz Huang Yue; and Wang Lu, a walking time machine. These seven interns find their competition ignited by a rental-agency scandal.
Constantly shifting scores and rankings keep them anxious and on edge. As time goes on and they encounter different types of cases, under the guidance of Jun’an senior partners Bai Xiao and Song Yifan and fourth-year associate Zhou Nian, they gradually begin to face the realities of everyday life – and their own personal dilemmas – through the lens of a true legal professional.
Enjoy the seven All Rise character visuals (you may like them!), and look out for the Chinese drama kicking off with its first of 24 episodes on November 29th.
Hey, I will give it a chance at least as it ticks two of my boxes – a contemporary drama, and shorter than 25 episodes.
