Ding Yu Xi and Ancy Deng’s new C-drama “The Road to Splendor” has only been streaming for under 48 hours, and has already exceeded 25,000 on Tencent Video’s heat index.
The Chinese streaming platform released three new visual of the two main leads to celebrate, along with a comment saying:
“Every sight is aglow with red light, and a single arrow has strung together all the auspicious omens“.
They also reminded viewers new episodes of the historical romance series will drop every day at 6pm (Beijing time).

My Drama List ratings for “The Road to Splendor“
Along with the fast heat index rise, “The Road to Splendor” is also currently being solidly rated on the Asian drama-focused site My Drama List, with more than 560 users currently rating it an 8.2 out of 10 (an excellent rating for that site).
Comments too are very positive, and range from:
“I love Ding Yu Xi but I didn’t watch Melody of Golden Age (the two actors’ previous drama together) because I thought that the FL was too young. I started this one without looking at the cast nor the synopsis and I’m hooked.
Now that I check it out, it’s actually the same FL!! So they have two dramas together and she’s doing great! Can I also add that I really like the intro š as those fabrics look stunning!”
along with this excellent comment about the production quality of the drama (which, I agree, is superb, by the way):
“One thing i absolutely love about this drama is the sincerity of the production team. I don’t see green screen use with added graphic sceneries but ACTUAL scenes being filmed up in the hills, deserts, and natural locations.
I am so tired of seeing most historical idol dramas limited to Hengdian Studios that lately almost Nothing of the Set-ups looks new anymore.
But here, art direction truly deserves a praise.
They filmed in Dunhuang, Gansu (Northwest China) including the Gobi Desert near Yumen Pass, vast border area, Ancient Houses of Shanxi (Northern China), Zhejiang province (East China)….The landscapes are giving an immersive experience of the storyline.
Every frame, each scene is showcasing top notch production quality, so scenic for my eyes. The Art Director of this drama is Shao Changyong, 2 times winner of Magnolia award for Best Art Direction. The Ming Dynasty attires are also refreshing & scene blending. A sincere & Real S+ work.”
And, honestly, I will also add that, while I admit I am not a particular Ding Yu Xi fan (by that, I mean I can take him or leave him, as he doesn’t usually hit me much either way), I will say I am loving his performance in The Road to Splendor so far, as he and the rest of the cast are doing a spectacular job.
The Road to Splendor is streaming internationally on WeTV for subscribers. And yes, from the five episodes I have watched so far, it’s definitely on my recommended list.
