Cheng Yi’s ‘Sword and Beloved’ Wangquan Fu Gui grabs 600 million character popularity points hours after premiere

Michelle Topham October 25, 2025

Update – October 26th, 2025 — Of course, if you know Cheng Yi, it’s pretty obvious any character he plays won’t be stuck at one level for long. And that’s why, just 24 hours after earning 400 million character popularity points for Wangquan Fu Gui, he has now passed the 600 million character points milestone — see visual below to celebrate. (Aaaaaand… he’s now passed 800 million and is still climbing!)

As C-drama Sword and Beloved premieres today (sorry, I can’t tell you if it’s worth watching as I haven’t gotten to it yet), its male lead, Wangquan Fu Gui played by the fabulously talented Cheng Yi, has already hit a massive 400 million character personality points on iQIYI.

Considering Cheng Yi usually gets this reception for any character he plays, that was to be expected, right?

And now we can probably expect a legion of anti-fans to hit social media/drama rating sites, and downrate Sword and Beloved.

As that’s what these a-holes generally do every time as well. (Shrug. Losers.)

Chen Ying’s portrayal of Wangquan Fu Gui hitting 400 million character personality points already came with a pretty poster of the actor in the role (above), and a comment from iQIYI:

“When you arrived, your footsteps made no sound, yet they stirred ripples.”

Through snow and fire, burning life to break through fate. On the premiere day, Wangquan Fu Gui (the male lead of Heaven and Earth Sword Heart, portrayed by Cheng Yi) reached over 400 million in character popularity on iQIYI’s streaming platform.

The long-awaited Sword and Beloved got a surprise premiere this week, dropping on iQIYI earlier today.

The Chinese drama co-stars the equally wonderful Li Yi Tong (who will probably be getting her own character popularity poster soon!), and is due to run for 36 episodes.

The first five episodes are now streaming on iQIYI. Check it out, just like I will be doing for my Saturday night viewing.
