New Tencent historical romance drama The Road to Splendor (aka Escape to Your Heart) officially began filming at Hengdian World Studios, China this week.
And, if you are anything like me and think The Prisoner of Beauty is one of the best historical dramas to come out of China this year, then you need to keep an eye on The Road to Splendor, as it comes from the pen of the same screenwriter and is directed by the same director.
I will also add that the Chinese drama stars Ding Yu Xi (Love Game in Eastern Fantasy) and Deng En Xi (Melody of Golden Age), so it’s main leads are stellar as well.
The Road to Splendor‘s filming kickoff was announced via Tencent’s Weibo account, along with some happy looking photos of the main cast from the C-drama’s booting ceremony.
Those photos also came with a comment that named the main and supporting cast, as well as guest stars:
