After what seems like a heckuva long wait (although it has really only a few months since Season 1 ended, and I am just impatient), we finally have a premiere date for the sequel to historical romance drama Flourished Peony.

Called In the Name of Blossom, its filming ending was announced in August, 2024, but it has still been almost a year before we get to see it, with In the Name of Blossom now finally getting an official June 20th premiere.

The 24 episode drama obtained its distribution license in March of this year, and will stream exclusively on Mango TV beginning on Monday. (And I’ll add to that, unfortunately, as Mango TV’s English subtitles really suck, don’t they?).

And yes, it appears In the Name of Blossom will be incredibly popular as it has just been announced it already has 5 million reservations in China.

New character visuals also dropped earlier in the week. (above and below)

The second part of the series is again directed by Ding Zi Guang, with Zhang Yuan Ang and Jia Bin Bin back writing scripts.

Like Flourishing Peony, In the Name of Blossom stars Yang Zi and Li Xian, with Miles Wei, Zhang Ya Qin, Tu Song Yan, Guan Ye and others also reprising their supporting roles.

Baidu Encyclopedia describes its plot in this way:

In the bustling city of Chang’an, Fang Garden thrives with endless streams of visitors, its gates as crowded as a marketplace. Despite repeated obstructions from the County Princess Li Youzhen (played by Zhang Ya Qin), it stands unshaken.

When envoys from across the land arrive to pay tribute, He Wei Fang (Yang Zi), the mistress of Fang Garden, rises to the occasion. Amidst wind and snow, she makes peonies bloom in full splendor, showcasing the nation’s elegance, and her fame soars overnight.

Just as her dream of attaining wealth through commerce seems within reach, the truth about her mother’s death suddenly comes to light, casting doubt on her current path and leaving her future in business uncertain.

A perilous accident, however, brings He Wei Fang sudden clarity. She grasps the true duty of a merchant and shifts her focus to industries that benefit the people, teaching them trades and establishing the affordable medical clinic “Wu Yong Tang” to serve the masses.

Meanwhile, she secretly aides the Flower-and-Bird Envoy Jiang Chang Yang (Li Xian) and the Emperor in opposing the rebellious Prince Ning (Tu Song Yan), working to restore the nation’s dignity.

Look out for In the Name of Blossom on June 30th on Mango TV, with international fans also wondering if it will eventually show up on Viki as that is where the series’ Season 1 is streaming. For free too.

Fingers crossed as, while Viki takes advantage of their translators by not paying them properly so, no, I am not a fan of the site, at least they offer understandable subs.
