Tencent C-drama Uncle drops pretty cast poster
Now this is one that has suddenly popped up after a few months of not much promotion at all — Chinese comedy drama Uncle (aka 老舅) starring Guo Jing Fei and Esther Wang has a new cast poster out today, along with an official premiere date.
Yep, that’s a surprise to me after the last thing I saw were the character posters released in May but, hey, as a big Guo Jing Fei and Esther Wang fan (a two-in-one very nice package!!) I’m not complaining.
That Uncle premiere date, by the way, is December 15th, 2025, with the Chinese family-themed drama streaming on Tencent Video and WeTV.
The Uncle cast poster, which Tencent calls the ‘Annual Family Meeting poster’ also features both main leads and most of the lead supporting cast — they are Guo Jing Fei, Wang Jia Jia (aka Esther Wang),Chen Ming Hao, Zhang Xin Yi, Liu Yi Tie, Liu Pei Qi, Zhang Ke Ying, Xu Jing Ya, Xu Jing Ya, Annabel Yao and Mu Li Yan.
And yep, if you enjoy a cozy family drama, the Tencent drama looks very cute, quirkily funny, and incredibly heart-warming.
C-drama Uncle production details
Uncle is being directed by Han San Ping (Beginning of the Great Revival). He also wrote the scripts in collaboration with Kong Er Gou (Beijing Flickers).
Director of photography is Li Qi Xing (Under the Microscope), and yes, this one looks very pretty. (Watch trailers via Uncle‘s Baidu page).
As for the Uncle plot, here’s the official synopsis:
Since he is little, Er Pang, an elementary school boy, admires no one more than his uncle. His uncle is gifted from a young age and excels at everything he does; after graduating from college, he becomes a technical mainstay at a factory.
But precisely because he is so smart, everything feels fresh to him and he has a strong urge to explore, so whatever he does, his enthusiasm lasts only a short while.
Over the course of his life, his uncle tries countless industries and travels all over the country. Every new venture starts off with great excitement, but his timing is never quite right. On his journey to chase his dreams, his family always gives him their fullest support.
And after a lifetime of chasing and struggling, he gradually realizes that family and friendship are his most precious treasures.
Look out for Uncle premiering on WeTV on December 15th.
Something I am thrilled about as now I know what Tencent drama I will be downloading to watch on my flight back to the U.S. on the 18th. Yay!
