C drama Detective Files drops New Year Spring Festival poster

Huang Jun Jie and Zhang Shi An’s new historical mystery drama Detective Files has a new poster out today.

This time to celebrate Chinese New Year (aka Spring Festival), and to remind viewers the C-drama is still on its way. At some time. Soon?

The latest Detective Files poster features the two leads along with supporting cast members Yang Bo Xiao and Li Zhi Mo, with all four forming an investigation team to try to solve a series of bizarre cases that occur during the Song Dynasty.

The poster came with a comment from network YOUKU:

The auspicious horse heralds the spring, bringing wondrous tales to celebrate the New Year!

The entire detective team of the Song Dynasty is assembled: Song Yuan (aka Huang Jun Jie), Su Jin Xuan (Zhang Shi An), Zhou Hu (Yang Bo Xiao), and Liu Xiao Wan (Li Zhi Mo).

Wishing everyone a successful Year of the Horse, filled with unsolved mysteries and all things going smoothly!

The Detective Files plot

The Chinese drama itself, titled 大宋奇闻录 or The Great Song Dynasty Tales) will be a while before it is released, as it only began filming on 3rd January this year.

If you’re a fan of shows like Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty, and looking for a new historical detective series that hits that vibe, but this time with a younger cast, though, it may be worth checking out.

The Detective Files plot, by the way, looks like this:

With the new capital newly established, the people are filled with anxiety. A bizarre case involving a mummified bride suddenly occurs in Lin’an City.

Chief Judge Song Yuan (Huang Jun Jie) volunteers to take on the task, joining forces with Su Jin Xuan (Zhang Shi An), a mysterious and eccentric coroner carrying a secret.

Together, they unravel a series of bizarre cases, including the mummified bride case, the porcelain demon nightmare case, and the Thunder God murder case at Wangbei Tower, saving the city from collapse and stabilizing the public and the political situation.

The drama is reportedly set for 24 episodes when it does air. But, as of yet, I have no idea when that will be.
