If, like me, you are always on the lookout for shorter Chinese dramas (who has time to watch five or six 40-episode dramas at once, eh?), then make a note to check out Peng Yu Chang and Jelly Lin‘s new comedy drama No Pain No Gain.

The 24-episode series is currently streaming on WeTV, and getting excellent reviews.

And, with only a few episodes left to premiere, Tencent Video has just released some cool No Pain No Gain character posters, to remind those of you who haven’t started watching the quirky, and I will say very fun and funny, C-drama, you might just want to start.

Those No Pain No Gain character posters feature leads Peng Yu Chang and Jelly Lin as Pei Qian and Lin Wan (above), but also include posters for Liu Guan Lin as Huang Si Bo, Wang Tian Fang as Ma Yang, He Rui Xian as Xin Hai Lu, Wu Jun Ting as Lv Ming Liang,  Vinnie Yao as Bao Xu, and, of course, the stray black cat Pei Qian adopts in Episode 1.

The Chinese drama premiered on Tencent Video and WeTV on January 31st, and is scheduled to air its final episodes tomorrow — February 12th, 2026.

Its plot follows Pei Qian (aka Peng Yu Chang) who is fired from his job, and then hired by a business tycoon to start a new business with one catch. That business must be operated at a loss.

If it does lose money, Pei Qian will benefit. If it doesn’t, he won’t.

WeTV describes its funny and very quirky plot like this:

After being fired from a major corporation, office worker Pei Qian receives an unexpected offer from a mysterious tycoon to start a company with a single goal: Losing money.

He assembles a team of unreliable misfits and launches the “Pei Qian Plan”, deliberately raising salaries, extending holidays, offering generous benefits, and investing in one absurd project after another in hopes of failure.

Instead, every attempt backfires into success, turning losses into profits again and again. Pei Qian becomes a celebrated boss among his employees and a recognized business prodigy in the industry, while he himself suffers from getting rich against his will.

With no escape, he continues searching for new opportunities to turn the tide and finally…

Yep, the Chinese drama is just as absurd as it sounds.

Enjoy the 8 No Pain No Gain character posters, and check it out on WeTV internationally. You can also watch the Chinese drama’s official trailer below via the Kukan Drama YouTube channel, where the C-drama is also streaming.
