Two days before premiere and The Truth Within is raking in the reservations
If gruesome, violent and quite horrific crime thrillers are your thing (and they often are mine!), you will want to keep an eye out for the upcoming Chinese mystery thriller The Truth Within.
The drama just got its official premiere date and, luckily for us, it’s just two days from now on December 29th, 2025.
New The Truth Within poster of all three leads drops
Its premiere announcement arrived today with a poster of the three main leads to celebrate the C-drama’s 1.5 million pre-orders on YOUKU.
Those leads, by the way, are Luo Yun Xi (Whispers of Fate), Cya Liu Ya-se (See Her Again), and Jiang Qi Lin (Man’s Inhumanity to Man).
The latest The Truth Within poster also came with a message from YOUKU hinting at the plot:
#The Truth Within Dual-Platform Pre-orders Exceed 1.5 Million#. Threads intertwine, weaving a vast network; beneath the cocoon’s layers, undercurrents surge.
The trailer that was released yesterday will also give you a good indication of whether the freaky sounding plot is something you’d enjoy. But, be warned, it’s not for the squeamish.
The Truth Within investigates six cases
The drama itself, which is Luo Yun Xi’s first contemporary crime drama, is set to run for 21 episodes and will cover the investigation of six different cases that just might actually be connected.
According to YOUKU, those cases are:
- The Lolita Murder
- Deadly Cone Spider Web
- The Human Jigsaw Puzzle
- The Death Insurance Policy
- The Missing Oil Painting
- Original Sin
Its official plot synopsis, which follows forensic medical examiner Qi Si Zhe (played by Luo Yun Xi) looks like this:
After a car accident, Qi Si Zhe (played by Luo Yun Xi) loses his girlfriend Yu Fei, but he discovers there’s more to the accident than meets the eye. To investigate the truth, Qi Si Zhe joins the criminal investigation and forensic department of the He City Public Security Bureau, but is soon forced to become involved in a series of bizarre and mysterious cases.
During the investigations, he, along with Zhu Qing Yue (played by Cya Liu Ya-se) and Han Feng (played by Jiang Qi Lin), meticulously unravels the mysteries and solves numerous cases, while the “Original Diamond” case, which is connected to Yu Fei’s death, gradually reveals its true nature.
If you enjoyed The Victim’s Game or Danger Zone directed by Chen Kuan Chung, or Unknown Number or Catman written by Wei Tian Yi, you wil probably love The Truth Within as both are responsible for this.
