With just two days before C-drama Legend of the Female General premieres on Tencent Video/WeTV, the promo pieces are now coming thick and fast.
As, yep, if this one is as good as the trailer and various promo visuals promise, it could be one of Tencent’s biggest hits this year.
One of the platform’s latest promos then is the release today of four official Legend of the Female General stills featuring stars Zhou Ye and Ryan Cheng (aka Cheng Lei).
The stills were dropped via Tencent, with a remark about He Yan and Xiao Jue, the characters the Chinese actors play:

Starting August 6th, Legend of the Female General (#锦月如歌#) will premiere on Tencent Video. Pre-order now.
The drama itself tells the story of He Yan, the eldest daughter of the He family who is forced to go into battle while pretending to be the family’s male heir, and Xiao Jue, the former scholar who falls in love with her.

The two work together to overcome the treachery by her own family that she falls victim to, while also attempting to regain everything she lost.
And yes, I am excited for this one as Zhou Ye was a standout in Word of Honour, especially her dynamic with Wen Ke Xing (marvelously played by Gong Jun) (hate what happened to her character though), and Cheng Lei, of course, is Cheng Lei.
Legend of the Female General drops on WeTV on Wednesday and, if you enjoy a beautifully-filmed historical romance drama starring two of China’s currently most popular young actors, you might want to give this one a chance.
My guess is it will be hugely successful.
