You know a Chinese drama is close to being released when it gets a visual celebrating its reservations yesterday, followed by the release of a series of character visuals today.
That Vin Zhang and Mao Xiao Tong-led C-drama right now, by the way, is the upcoming Tencent Video contemporary drama series Light Beyond the Reed.
A 16-episode Chinese drama that, we learned yesterday, has already earned more than 500,000 reservations on Tencent, and is likely to get its release in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed.
Along with the five Light Beyond the Reed character visuals, which dropped via Tencent’s Weibo account this morning, Tencent also briefly talked about its plot, and named the actors featured in the visuals:

Update: Light Beyond the Reed‘s premiere date has now been confirmed as October 16th, 2025, with the 18 episode drama scheduled to run through October 22nd.
