Fate Chooses You premieres first episodes on April 25th
Allen Ren‘s new drama Fate Chooses You premieres on April 25th so, of course, it’s fitting today that we got the C-drama’s official character visuals dropping.
The visuals were released on Tencent Video’s social media pages, along with a short hint about the drama’s emotional plot:
Engraved in my heart, I fear no perilous path. Though tribulations surge like a tide, I will never give up, never regret, never waver.
And yep, from the character visuals, the plot synopsis and its trailer (below) alone, I am going out on a limb to say the upcoming fantasy wuxia will likely be one of the best dramas of 2026.
The cast and main staff of Fate Chooses You
Alongside Allen Ren (aka Ren Jia Lun, because I think his Chinese name is much prettier), Fate Chooses You stars Wang He Run as the female lead, with Zhang Kai Ying, Huang Yi, Ding Xiao Ying, Sun Ze Yuan, and Riley Wang in other main lead roles.
The C-drama is directed by Guo Hu (A Moment But Forever, A Dream Within a Dream) so you know it will be superb, and with screenwriting by the amazing Xiao Xiang Dong Er, who also wrote Love and Destiny, The Demon Hunter’s Romance and A Moment But Forever.

The drama itself is adapted from the novel 佳偶天成 – The Perfect Match) by Chinese author Shi Si Lang (十四郎), who also wrote the novels that Love and Destiny and A Moment But Forever are based on.
It also takes place in the same world.
The plot of Fate Chooses You
As for its synopsis, I have a feeling from the author’s previous works that we are about to embark on an emotional journey we will not quickly forget.
That synopsis, by the way, looks like this:
Lu Qianqiao (played by Ren Jia Lun), a member of the War Ghost Clan, must break a curse and be reborn as a human to preserve his clan’s bloodline. To survive, he must undergo five trials: skin replacement, flesh replacement, bone replacement, blood replacement, and heart replacement.
He assumes the identity of the corrupt official Lu Huai and marries Xin Mei (Wang He Run), a cultivator with a naturally gifted Daoist body and a divinely inspired spiritual root, despite being cursed with a husband-killing fate. He initially believes that after being executed by slow slicing, he can fake his death and escape, never to see Xin Mei again.
However, this seemingly harmless wife unexpectedly carries a knife and travels alone to the capital to avenge him and clear his name.
In doing so, Xin Mei’s actions attract the pursuit of the immortal sects, forcing Lu Qianqiao to intervene and expose his identity.
Realizing she has been deceived, Xin Mei turns on him with her knife. In desperation, Lu Qianqiao erases her memories, but the two unexpectedly meet again in Chongling Valley, their fates intertwined from then on.
Together they experienced thrilling events such as the “Immortal Pill,” the “Peerless Society,” and the “Golden Light Cult,” while suddenly seeing their attraction to each other grow.
Look out for the first six episodes of Fate Chooses You dropping on Tencent Video in China, and on iQIYI internationally.
And yes, I am sorry to have to tell you, WeTV has not licensed this one for international release, so we are stuck with iQIYI, my least favorite streaming service.
If you won’t pay for the service, as I won’t, however, you can watch the drama legally on their YouTube channel. Just with episodes releasing later than on the official iQIYI platform.
