Sword Rose hits 23000 on heat index (Update: 27000) – C-drama is beautifully written and performed

The Chinese crime thriller Sword Rose premiered on Tencent yesterday, July 28th, and has already exceeded 23000 on the streaming platform’s heat index.

That news was announced by Tencent on their Weibo account this morning, with a celebratory visual featuring the Chinese drama’s main characters, including protagonists Deng Yan (played by Dilraba Dilmurat) and Chang Rui (Jin Shi Jia).

Tencent also tagged the Weibo accounts of the lead actors featured on the visual, along with the comment:

Sword Rose streams on Tencent Video in China, and on WeTV internationally.

Six episodes of the 33-episode drama are out for VIP subscribers already, with two more dropping tomorrow.

And yep, you should check it out as, while it does cover some damned serious topics (child trafficking, abuse, missing people), and is gritty, nerve-wracking and upsetting, it is incredibly well-written, and the performances of all the cast are superb.

Yep, I think it is safe to say Sword Rose has been a huge hit, don’t you? Especially as it seems to be competing with The Immortal Ascension in popularity.
