Plot Synopsis

Shi Fa Ke is the pampered daughter of a prestigious family of official matchmakers. Though she initially prefers a carefree life, circumstances push her to inherit her family’s matchmaking profession and prove her abilities.

Her life changes when she meets Lu Chi, a mysterious man who appears to be a wealthy scholar but is secretly investigating powerful forces within the imperial city. Initially intending to find him a suitable match, Shi Fa Ke becomes deeply involved in his affairs as they begin working together to help others resolve romantic and marital problems.

As they face personal challenges, family struggles, and hidden conspiracies, Shi Fa Ke and Lu Chi grow closer. Through cooperation, mutual trust, and shared hardships, their partnership evolves into a meaningful and heartfelt love.

Production Details

The drama is adapted from Meng San Sheng’s novel, a popular story known for its engaging romance and unique focus on matchmaking culture.

Better Halves was filmed at Hengdian Studios. It is Ren Hao’s first leading role in a drama.
