Plot Synopsis
At the dawn of a new dynasty, the court appears calm on the surface, but beneath lies a turbulent undercurrent.
Overnight, the entire family of Ye Zhao (played by Gong Jun) are massacred, leaving him the sole survivor. Driven by a desire to uncover the truth and avenge his family’s death, Ye Zhao takes a desperate gamble, impersonating Meng Jianqing and infiltrating the Imperial Guard, the heart of the dynasty’s power, intending to use the court’s authority to kill his enemies.
From that moment on, Ye Zhao finds himself entangled in a perilous game. Powerful officials manipulate events behind the scenes, martial arts factions become tangled in a web of intrigue, and various assassination attempts relentlessly pursue him.
Ye Zhao, amidst the clash of swords and the constant threat of death, finds his life hanging by a thread, yet also encounters numerous fortuitous encounters.
He befriends loyal brothers willing to risk their lives for him; and receives unwavering support and trust from mentors and friends, forging him into steel through brutal struggle.
Using flesh and blood as his blade to complete his revenge, he then pierces the bloody veil of family feuds, cutting through the darkness of the empire to usher in the dawn, and resolutely marching towards the dawn breaking over the sea frontier.
