Double Track Puzzle character posters profile C-drama’s main characters
New Chinese crime drama Double Track Puzzle premiered yesterday on YOUKU and has already passed 7000 on the platform’s heat index, with YOUKU releasing a new poster to celebrate.
Soon after, the streaming service also dropped several Double Track Puzzle character visuals featuring the C-drama’s main and lead supporting characters, who are portrayed by a superb cast of primarily veteran actors.

The character visuals also came with a comment describing the C-drama’s plot:
“In a world of rival outlaws, the struggle for dominance knows no bounds. As a sinister force emerges in Xiatong, why do the police’s attempts to apprehend the culprits repeatedly take unexpected turns?”
Tune in to YOUKU at 12 p.m. daily (Beijing time) to watch #Double Track Puzzle#, where two captains join forces to unravel the truth.
The Double Track Puzzle character visuals include those for leads Yang Xu Wen (who plays railway detective Zhan Peng) and Wang Yan Hui (who plays Tu Hong Jiang), as well as various other characters including Bai Tao Hua (played by Wang Zi Yun), and Zhang Nan Yi (played by Dai Wen Bo).
The crime thriller’s features a standout cast
And yes, as casts go, this one is standout and, in particular, because of its interesting pairing of Yang Xu Wen (star of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty) and Wang Yan Hui (who was also fabulous as Chen Shu Fa in last year’s mystery thriller Regeneration).
Especially as anyone who has watched Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty is so used to seeing him play off his co-star Yang Zhi Gang, it’s a fun change to see his completely different interactions with Wang Yan Hui in this much more gritty series.

The supporting cast is also doing a solid job, with Xu Shi Yue’s character being particularly interesting to me as I recently enjoyed her performance in The Last Immortal and, while it was a small role, I thought she stood out.
It’s intriguing then to see her play someone completely different in a contemporary series.
The first six episodes of Double Track Puzzle are streaming on YOUKU.
The C-drama will run for a total of 20 episodes so, yep, if you don’t have time to invest in the usual 35-40 episode C-drama, this one could be an interesting alternative.
