Upcoming Chinese Japanese colonial rule-themed drama The Long Way Back has a new main and lead supporting characters poster out as the C-drama itself premieres on CCTV and Tencent Video on August 25th in China.

The Long Way Back production details
The Chinese drama was filmed from September 2nd, 2024 to December 2nd of the same year.
The Long Way Back is a 26-episode war drama that takes place after the Japanese invaded Manchuria in 1931.
As someone who is appalled by the brutality of the Japanese against the Chinese, the Koreans, and various other Asian nationalities at that time, I am fascinated by dramas that look at this brutal period in Asian history so, for me, The Long Way Back is a must watch.

The Long Way Back‘s plot, by the way, makes the Chinese drama sound even more interesting:
The play is set against the backdrop of the 14-year arduous war of resistance by the Northeast Counter-Japanese United Army. It tells the story of a small Counter-Japanese United Army team that went through a brutal battle and lost contact with the main force and party organization.
Under the layers of pursuit and interception by the Japanese army, the team members were separated one after another.
After going through hardships and dangers and life-and-death tests, they regrouped and returned to the Northeast battlefield, contributing their blood and lives to the victory of China’s War of Resistance and even the world anti-fascist war.
The Long Way Back premieres on Tencent Video on August 25th, and is currently a highly-anticipated drama in China.
Fingers crossed we also get access to The Long Way Back internationally via WeTV, although that platform has been a letdown for a few releases of anticipated dramas recently.
