The women-focused Chinese drama The Vanishing Beauty has officially begun filming, with a filming schedule of 90 days, and with character visuals also dropping for all the main cast earlier today.
The upcoming C-drama stars Li Yi Tong (A Dream Within a Dream) alongside actors like Wang Jia Jia (aka Esther Wang), Chang Hua Sen, and Zeng Meng Xue.
The just-released The Vanishing Beauty character visuals features all the main cast and the C-drama’s supporting actors, with Tencent Video also commenting about what you can expect with the The Vanishing Beauty plot:

The Chinese drama is currently scheduled for a 40-episode run (initially reported as a 28-episode run but later changed), and with a Tencent Video exclusive.
The plot of The Vanishing Beauty, which is based on the web novel “Mei Ren Yu” (美人余) written by author Yi Bei (伊北), follows the lives of four sisters and sounds like this:
Yu Jia’s story: In the midst of a midlife marital crisis, after discovering her husband’s repeated infidelity, she chooses to confront the issue head-on, safeguarding her rights through legal means and redefining the value system of marriage.
Yu Meng’s story: Due to irreconcilable differences with her husband over educational philosophies, she becomes the first woman in the family to proactively file for divorce.
Yu Shuang’s story: Bearing the responsibility of caring for her ailing mother and young niece, she is forced to give up career advancement opportunities, reflecting the contemporary phenomenon of “involuntary motherhood.”
Yu Rui’s story: Harboring dreams of stardom, she enters the film and television industry, but after encountering hidden rules and fierce competition for popularity, she transitions into becoming a relationship blogger, reconstructing modern frameworks of love and marriage.
(Note: Some of the character names are different than those being talked about by Tencent, so take them with a grain of salt).
According to Baidu, the time frame for the drama has been changed from the original 1990s of the novel, to the 2020s.
Some events in the drama have also been changed from the novel to make them more relatable to contemporary audiences.
