Ryan Cheng gets birthday visual from Tencent to celebrate his 32nd birthday

Today is Chinese actor Ryan Cheng’s 32nd birthday (interestingly, the same day as my father, although my father is much much older! Sorry, Dad).

In celebration of the happy day, Tencent Video uploaded a still of Ryan Cheng (aka Cheng Lei) as Mo Xiu Yao in the upcoming historical romance drama Mo Li.

They also commented about his role in the drama:

A sharp sword is hidden within the sleeve, secretly gathering thunder to shake the heavens. Wishing Mo Xiu Yao a happy birthday, may all his wishes come true, and may he be filled with joy throughout the year!

Ryan Cheng in Mo Li

Ryan Cheng (aka Cheng Lei) is starring in Mo Li alongside Bai Lu (Unveil: Jadewine).

The Chinese drama ended its filming on October 11th, with the series currently in post-production.

Considering it stars both Bai Lu and Ryan Cheng, you can only imagine how much of a ‘most-anticipated C-drama’ this has been for a while then.

Meanwhile, while there has been no official information from Tencent as to when Mo Li will premiere,  or even an English title released so far, word on the street in China currently points to a second or third quarter, 2026 release for the historical drama.

That sounds feasible to me, as Mo Li only finished filming in October and, with that kind of 40-episode drama, post-production usually runs for at least eight or nine months, if not longer.

That would mean that the earliest we can expect Mo Li to premiere is June, 2026 then.

Fingers crossed, and I will update you as soon as Tencent Video/WeTV releases that information.

Mo Li stars Ryan Cheng and Bai Lu along with Cai Zheng Jie, Lin Mu Ran and Yang Shu Yi in supporting roles.

Tencent Video/WeTV will be streaming the Cdrama exclusively when it does air.
