Plot Synopsis

This Thriving Land is a sweeping historical rural drama that chronicles the struggles, resilience, and transformation of ordinary people across decades of social upheaval in southern Shandong province. The story centers on Ning Xiuxiu, the daughter of the wealthiest landowner in Tianniu Temple Village, whose life is forever changed when she is kidnapped by bandits on her wedding day.

When her father refuses to sell any land to pay her ransom, Xiuxiu escapes with the help of farmer Feng Dajiao. However, upon returning home, she discovers that her father has already married her sister to her intended fiancé. Heartbroken and disillusioned, Xiuxiu severs ties with her family and chooses to marry Feng Dajiao, embracing a difficult but meaningful life working the land.

As the years pass, Xiuxiu grows from a privileged landowner’s daughter into a strong and independent woman shaped by hardship, war, and sweeping social change. Inspired by revolutionary ideas and her experiences among rural villagers, she becomes a leader in her community, helping others overcome feudal traditions and fight for dignity and equality.

Through the intertwined destinies of the Ning, Feng, and Fei families, the drama explores themes of survival, family loyalty, love, sacrifice, and the deep connection between people and the land that sustains them.
