Another big premiere surprise when it comes to Chinese dramas this week is the announcement the Zhang Yi Shan and Li Qin drama The Wonderful World is finally releasing on June 30th.
This after an almost five year wait since the C-drama started its filming, and with most fans (and probably the director, actors and crew as well) thinking it would never see the light of day.
But, here we are, five years later and The Wonderful World will drop its first episodes on iQIYI on Monday.
The announcement was made via iQIYI’s Weibo account, along with a new poster (above) and the comment:

The Wonderful World production details
As I alluded to before, The Wonderful World (previously titled Dear You) began filming in October, 2024 and ended in January, 2021.
The 29-episode drama (dropped from its initially announced 30 episodes), is directed by Xu Bing (The Legend of Heroes).
The Chinese romance stars Zhang Yi Shan, Li Qin, Ruan Ju and Lian Yi Ming, and co-stars Niu Li, Wang Yu Yan, Sun Qiang, Zhao Zi Hui and Qi Yun Peng.
The Wonderful World‘s plot looks like this:
Hangzhou youth Xu Xian’s quiet life is stirred by a late autumn rainstorm when he passes by Zhou Tong, a stranger who bears an uncanny resemblance to him. This encounter sparks an obsession in Xu Xian, who lost his mother as a child and is slightly introverted, driving him to search for this mysterious look-alike.
Shi Dian Dian, whom he meets through a blind date, readily agrees to help him find Zhou Tong. Together, they travel to Beijing to watch the ballet The Legend of the White Snake, starring young ballet dancers Wen Xiao Yao and Qiao Mi.
On the night of the premiere, Zhou Tong rushes from the airport to the theater to see his girlfriend Wen Xiao Yao perform, but a sudden car accident changes the course of both couples’ love stories.
Through reunions and separations, the sweetness and bitterness of love, the young people gradually come to understand the profound complexities of life.
As Xu Xian spends more time with Dian Dian, he slowly opens his heart, and the two eventually find happiness together.
Meanwhile, Wen Xiao Yao emerges from her darkest moments and, through relentless effort, becomes a true ballet artist.

Update, June 30th, 2025: A new ‘urban character poster’ has just been released for The Wonderful World, right before its first episodes premiere on Tencent later on today.
