Formerly known as Calming Waves (定风波 or Ding Feng Bo), upcoming historical mystery thriller The Wanted Detective has just exceeded 1 million reservations on iQIYI.
In response, the Chinese streaming service released the above cool poster featuring the leads and main supporting cast, along with a message on their Weibo account that tags the actors and their characters in the drama, and says:

The Wanted Detective production details
While there hasn’t been a definitive announcement of the Chinese drama’s premiere date yet, rumor coming out of China (and, bizarrely, Chinese fans are usually correct) says The Wanted Detective will premiere on iQIYI on August 1st.
The mystery thriller stars the above actors, and is directed by Zhao Jin Tao (My Wife’s Double Life), and written by Zhang Yun Xiao (The Most Sweet Love).

The drama began filming on May 9th, 2024 and ended its filming on September 11th of the same year.
As for The Wanted Detective plot, it sounds like this (and, yep, this type of plot floats all my boats):
On the day of the grand wedding, at Fengbo Lake, Xiao Bei Ming (played by Wang Xing Yue), the Great Qi Empire’s top detective, was framed as the demonic Night Shade, accused of murdering his mentor and betraying his country before plunging into the lake to escape.
Three years later, Xiao Bei Ming returns to the capital, regains the trust of his junior sister Zhong Xue Man (played by Julia Xiang), and joins forces with a group of brave and resourceful companions.
Risking their lives, they march toward certain death, solving a series of baffling cases together.
We’ll keep you posted as to when The Wanted Detective is scheduled to drop.
Update: The Wanted Detective has been officially confirmed as premiering on August 1st.
