Photos from the booting ceremony for Mango TV and Hunan Satellite TV youth-romance drama Dazzling have dropped.
Filming for the Chinese contemporary romance drama is currently ongoing in Weihai, Shandong, with a two-plus month schedule planned, and with filming wrapping up towards the end of July.
The Chinese drama stars Guan Xiao Tong and Li Yun Rui, and you may remember I talked about the filming beginning back on May 24th, with a new poster and plot details then.
Now the Dazzling booting ceremony photos are out, we can get more of an idea of the full main and partial supporting cast, and what kind of atmosphere we can expect.
Dazzling, btw, is the love story between motorbike mechanic Wu Xing (played by Li Yun Rui) and mathematical prodigy Ye Qing (Guan Xiao Tong).
The pair, who may at first seem oddly matched, become involved with each other when an inheritance situation forces them together.
The supporting cast is also decent as it includes Gao Lu (Love’s Rebellion), Hong Kongese veteran actress Nina Paw (The First Frost), Mao Jun Jie (Knock on the Happiness Door), and drama newcomer Yao Chen.
Angels Fall Sometimes‘ Zhu Dong Ning is directing, while screenwriter Liu Fei (writer of My Little Happiness) is in charge of scripts.
The modern-day drama is based on the novel of the same name (耀眼) written by Shi Jiu Yuan (时玖远), and is currently scheduled to run for 36 episodes.
The mainland China drama will air both on Mango TV and on Hunan TV, which means international viewers will likely be able to watch it via Mango TV’s YouTube channel.
I do wonder sometimes, though, if people will ever get tired of Li Yun Rui as, every time I turn around, he’s starring in another drama. When does the man sleep?
I mean, look at this year alone, he has leads in Reopen My Journals and Yummy Yummy Yummy and a guest role in Perfect Match. If Dazzling does drop in 2026, he will have three dramas airing before the first half of that year is over as well.
Ah well, let’s hope he doesn’t accept so many new projects people start to tire of him and move onto a different actor without as much exposure, eh?
