Plot Synopsis
Overdo is a sweeping Republic of China-era romance drama woven with love, betrayal, identity confusion, sacrifice, and the lingering pain of history.
Set against the backdrop of 1930s Shanghai, the story centers on Murong Qing Yi, the youngest son of a powerful military family whose childhood was marked by tragedy and betrayal. Raised under false pretenses after a family baby swap, Murong Qing Yi grows up cold and battle-scarred, shaped by loss and mistrust.
His path collides with Ren Su Su, a compassionate young woman who once saved him in his youth. Their connection transforms into a hidden and complicated love, driven by gratitude, longing, and regret, but the twists of fate push them apart again when Su Su fakes her death to protect others.
Years later, she reenters his life with a new identity, this time connected to his family in a way that challenges loyalty, revenge, and the possibility of reconciliation.
Misunderstandings, old wounds, political turbulence, and personal sacrifice test their bond as national unrest looms, forcing them to confront whether love can survive not only personal turmoil but the fall of a nation.
