Song Zu Er and Song Wei Long in talks to star in Kiss in the Wind? Here’s what we know so far

Michelle Topham May 12, 2026

Song zu er and song wei long

Now this is a potentially interesting pairing of two actors I wouldn’t have been that sold on until their recent dramas had me upgrading what I thought of their skills.

Song Zu Er, who killed it in last year’s The Demon Hunter’s Romance (that crying scene when she finds out her father has died!) and in The Prisoner of Beauty, and Song Wei Long who just changed my mind in Shine on Me after me thinking he couldn’t act.

Both are, apparently, in talks to co-star in upcoming contemporary romance Kiss in the Wind (等风热吻你) via Tencent Video.

Of course, don’t get too excited, as these are only “talks” the two Songs are involved in, but it would be an interesting pairing if it comes off.

Don’t forget too, Gong Jun and Meng Zi Yi were rumored to be starring in this just over a month ago, which means take everything I say here with a grain of salt.

Like always, if it does happen, Song Zu Er will be the strongest of the two, as her acting skills often seem to be years ahead of her co-stars (except for in The Demon Hunter’s Romance, where Allen Ren definitely kept up).

But it would be interesting to see if she could pull a performance out of Song Wei Long that is more comparable to his work in Shine on Me than in The Seven Relics of Ill Omen, where his portrayal of Luo Ren was particularly wood-like.

Then again, he was paired with Liu Hao Cun, and she’s not known for her stellar acting skills either.

The Kiss in the Wind plot

As for the Kiss in the Wind story, I do think it would have benefitted more from leads in their 30s (Both Song Zu Er and Song Wei Long are still only 27 and, when it comes to “lust” (see plot below), I can’t say I picture either of them).

We do all know, however, that, if main leads aren’t idol actors, or close to it, the drama won’t usually get anywhere near the attention it deserves.

So, yes, I do get the interest in Song Zu Er and Song Wei Long telling this story, and I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if they do. Here’s the plot:

Fu Xueli and Xu Xingchun once had a love affair that was like a comet hitting the earth. They were fatally attracted to each other in their loneliest youth, but they also messed everything up in their most powerless years.

Six years later, they suddenly meet again. One has become a bright and flamboyant top female star, and the other a cold and abstinent forensic doctor.

As a result, the two, who had long been good at pretending, fell into each other again in the test and game of lust.

Love is terrible. It makes people selfish and cruel. So the clear-headed fall into it, and the self-controlled lose control. In the past and today, love and hate pass by like a hurricane. Let’s see how they clean up this mess.

See, doesn’t that sound like a story a more mature couple could tell?

No more information about Kiss in the Wind has been released, except that it’s co-produced by Tencent Video and Insight Entertainment, that its based on the web novel “Deng Feng Re Wen Ni” (等风热吻你 – Waiting for the Wind to Kiss You) written by Ji Ji De Mao (唧唧的猫), and that it may very well be 2028 before we see a premiere.

So, yep, there is a long wait no matter which Chinese actors end up starring in it.

I will let you know as more information about the official Kiss in the Wind cast is dropped.

Meanwhile, I will stick with my original comment – “an interesting pairing”.
