To no surprise to anyone who is watching the Chinese drama ‘The Princess’s Gambit‘, protagonist Shen Zai Ye (masterfully played by Liu Xue Yi) has already exceeded 10 million character popularity points on Tencent’s streaming platform.
That announcement came via Tencent Video’s Weibo account late last night with a celebratory poster of Liu Xue Yi in the drama’s main role, and along with the comment:
“Calm in the eye of the storm, untouched by the raging waves—the world finds its balance.
Congratulations to #LiuXueYi as ShenZaiYe for surpassing 10 million character popularity points on Tencent Video!

The C-drama itself is going gangbusters as well, having just earned 25,000 on the Tencent heat index after its latest episode (Episode 7) dropped yesterday.
The Princess’s Gambit is also set to go even higher as social media buzz about the historical romance drama, both in China and internationally, is currently massive and growing.

And that is no shocker either, as Liu Xue Yi is doing a phenomenal job as Chancellor Shen Zai Ye, as is the supporting cast.
Sadly, the jury is out on co-star Meng Zi Yi, whose acting skills in the first few episodes seem to have run off somewhere between the car that dropped her off at the studio and walking on set.
