Medical-themed mystery thriller Treasure at Dawn dropped its first episodes on November 30th and, sure, I am still only two episodes in so far but this one has turned out to be a little gem.
It stars a trio of ‘new friends’ — played by Li Hong Yi, Su Xiao Tong, and Yu Cheng En — who have great chemistry together, the C-drama’s cinematography is beautiful with some truly artistic moments, and it’s much more of a ‘rough and ready’ drama ie: less perfect white skin and manicured clothing, and more appropriate-for-the-times make-up, hair and garb.
The well-written plot too is fast-paced, quirky and incredibly fun.

So, when four Treasure at Dawn stills were released earlier today, I had to share just in case you had let this one pass you by.
The four stills were released by YOUKU with the message:
From a misunderstanding to life-or-death partnership! Fu Sheng (played by Li Hong Yi) pulls off a street-smart stunt to take down Wen Jue (Su Xiao Tong), and improvises a confrontation with Gu Tian (Yu Cheng En) to capture the culprit.
After reuniting in Xichuan, the three work together to solve cases and even share meals! The daily lives of this amazing team could fill a hundred episodes!

Treasure at Dawn is directed by Jones Ma (The Legend of Anle) and Shi Lei (She May Not Be Cute), and with those superb scripts penned by Yang Hong Wei and Liu Cheng Long — both of whom co-wrote Fighting for Love.
The Chinese historical mystery drama has its first seven episodes out on YOUKU, with Episode 8 available as a paid TVOD, and more dropping tomorrow.
(Update: December 34rd — Treasure at Dawn has just exceeded 6,000 on YOUKU’s heat index, so it looks like we could be heading for a big success. Yay!
