William Chan and Zhong Chu Xi’s new toxic romance drama kicks off filming
Well, this is an interesting one, considering the Chinese drama has received pretty much NO promotion so far — even though it does star the utterly wonderful William Chan (aka he of Love’s Ambition and The Mystic Nine: Against the Coming Storm) alongside Zhong Chu Xi (Judge Dee’s Mystery and Begin Again).
The C-drama I am talking about is iQIYI’s Love Kills Slowly (aka 爱情慢慢), a Chinese romance drama that kicked off its filming schedule in Foshan City, Guangdong Province today with an official booting ceremony, with filming itself beginning on March 15th, and photos also dropping for it.
Filming is scheduled to run for 90-days in Foshan and Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, and it’s a contemporary drama.
What’s the plot of C-drama Love Kills Slowly?
Love Kills Slowly is a drama that, even with a search on various Chinese search engines, including Baidu, I was not able to pull much up about — except an article explaining the plot that, apparently, follows extremely skilled doctor Wang Zhi Cheng (played by William Chan) who initially appears gentle and kind, but is quite controlling.
Soon Zhi Cheng meets Zhu Li Zi (played by Zhong Chu Xi ) and pursues her in a textbook-style romance, only to immediately turn into an extremely toxic and controlling person as soon as the relationship begins.
A relationship that is strange too as journalist Zhu Li Zi is very focused on domestic abuse, so you would think she would know what to look for and wouldn’t put up with manipulation or control?
That’s likely because, once in the relationship, and in her struggle to survive, she realizes that domestic violence is far more than just physical abuse; it also includes verbal abuse, psychological manipulation, and economic coercion.
Nope, apparently this one isn’t a lovey-dovey relaxing romance story at all.

And yes, I am well aware a fair number of people aren’t down for toxic romance plots but, if done well, they are more interesting to me than something more sweet.
