I told you last week that one of my sources in China has been telling me for over a week now that Cheng Yi’s latest drama The Vendetta of An was premiering on December 12th on YOUKU.
Turns out he was absolutely correct as YOUKU officially announced The Vendetta of An premiere this morning with a new poster of Cheng Yi as protagonist Xie Huai An. And yep — that date is December 12th, 2026.
The Chinese streaming service also gave viewers a romanticized version of the C-drama’s plot just so you can wet your appetite before it drops:
In the cold of winter, loyalty shines; in the wind and snow, the path home is revealed. Snow falling in Chang’an is nothing unusual—yet that person still comes cloaked and striding through the snow, vowing to settle old grudges…
#The Vendetta of An# release is officially announced today. Await this life-and-death game of vengeance!

The confirmed The Vendetta of An cast
The Vendetta of An is one of those Chinese dramas with a large main and supporting cast but, with the caliber of actors and veteran actors appearing in it, I have no complaints.
They are Cheng Yi, who has just finished starring in the very popular Sword and Beloved, Liu Yi Jun who was brilliant in Guardians of the Dafeng and in Footprints of Change, Wang Jin Song (Crime Hunt), Zhou Qi (Legend of Zang Hai), Tong Meng Shi (Destiny and Saving), and Xu Lu (Dream Beyond) as the main leads.
The equally superb supporting cast includes Ni Da Hong (This Thriving Land), Cheng Tai Shen (Legend of the Magnate), Han Tong Sheng (The Litchi Road), Liu Yi Tong (Created in China), Sun Zu Jun (Youthful Glory), Wang Hao Ge (Silent Honor), Zhang Han Yu (Against the Light), Song Jia Lun (Double Track Puzzle), Li Guang Fu (Gen Z), Sebrina Chen (Whispers of Fate), and Yin Zhu Sheng (The Seven Relics of Ill Omen).
Yep, it’s not often you get a drama with this many phenomenally talented actors playing even the smallest guest parts.
As you will also see from the cast list, The Vendetta of An is also quite “male-heavy” and, likely, without any romance. (Fingers crossed).
Considering I have watched a few C-dramas recently that jammed unnecessary romance into the plot just to satisfy the usual drama watching demographic, (looking at you Sword and Beloved, which hid the romance right until the end so might as well not have bothered by that point), and I am absolutely all in for a series with no romance at all.
We’ll see starting on December 12th when The Vendetta of An finally releases if that is actually true.
By the way, the Chinese mystery drama has already earned over 3.5 million reservations so, no matter how it turns out, it’s still likely to be a hit.
